Palisade is the eastern-most incorporated town or city in the Grand Valley and Mesa County. With a 2010 population of 2,692 it is also the smallest of the self-governing towns or cities in the region.
Tucked under the Palisade Rim of sandstone rock and the looming 10,000' high Grand Mesa, Palisade is the fruit and wine grape growing center of the region. 18 or more wineries call this area home and produce a variety of grapes and wines that have received regional, state-wide and national recognition.
Palisade is also known as a cultural center, with more fine dining and art galleries clustered in it's downtown than might be expected for a small community. Speaking of beverages, the Palisade Brewery is also well regarded by drinkers of malted beverages and their trademark beer is known affectionately as "Dirty Hippy".
A lot has changed and will changed now that Colorado voters have legalized recreational marijuana. While no jurisdictions in Mesa County, nor the county government itself, have legalized recreational sales, Palisade is the only community in Mesa County where medical marijuana users can legally have their prescriptions filled.
In 2013 seventy six Palisade single family home prices ranged from $7,000 to $1.15 million with an median sales price of $174,100.
